Kefalonia

10. Kefalonia: Situated in the Ionian Island, Kefalonia is the biggest of the group. It is famous for its fertile and for its beaches which are famous for their extreme and unspoiled natural beauty, they all have golden or white sand and wonderful emerald waters. Some of the beaches are fully organised with umbrellas and sun beds while other are naked and quieter, there is a choice for all satisfactions. Nightlife in Kefalonia is concentrated around the capital of the island, Argostoli, but also there are many other places to have fun and entertain such as, Fiscardo, Lixouri, Skala and Poros. All these places offer a wide variety of music and drinking and are open till in the morning. Kefalonia has main sights to visit, one of the most interesting is Melissani and the Drogarati Cave. There are also many monasteries and museums to visit. In my opinion Kefalonia has everything for the ideal holidays.

Kos

9. Kos: It is the 3rd largest of the Greek islands and is a part of Dodecanese. Also is known as the 2nd most popular and tourist after Rhodes. It is very well organised and has everything in terms of tourism transportation. Kos is the island of Hippocrates, the father of medicine. One of the most interesting attractions is the Asklepeion which was operated as a hospital applying the methods of theory taught by Hippocrates. Kos holidays are more popular in British people. The fact that climate is mild most of the year, the huge beaches, the giant historical interest and the attractiveness of the city of the island have successful raised Kos to the level of an international touristic centre. Nightlife and clubbing in Kos is very lively and crowd. Although for those who are less interested in parties the modern marina invites a pleasant leisurely walk. By visiting Kos is very easy to visit Bodrum in Turkey where abstains only 20 minutes far away from the island and you can go there easily by a small boat.

Ios

8. Ios: The island of Ios is a part of Cycladic islands and is located near Santorini. It is one of the most famous Greek islands for the intensive nightlife; it is very cosmopolitan and traditional at the same time. Over the last years, Ios has developed to an island that has something to for all ages to enjoy. Beside the nightlife, the island has many beautiful sights to offer. So, for those who don’t want to experience the nightlife, Chore the town, is wonderfully peaceful in the early evening with many jewellery and souvenir shops to explore, souvlaki shops, restaurants and coffee shop. Ios is voted as having one of the “Top 10 beaches in Europe”. “Milopita Beach” which is the most popular beach in the island, it has white sand and the water has a clear turquoise colour. The island has a typically Cycladic features, white washed buildings, hanging beautifully on the hill top and spotted around valleys. In total Ios has to offer many things in all age groups.

Skiathos

7. Skiathos: Beaches is what characterises Skiathos, there are more than you could ever imagine, beaches for all kind of flavours, in total the beaches are 62. They are special, superb and breathtaking. The island during the winter is quite but during summer and especially July and August is getting very busy, to understand how crowded the population of the island becomes is 4,000 and during the summer can reach the 70,000. What makes the island so special probably is the breeze of it, also monasteries and hilltops tavernas is what differentiate it from the rest. In Skiathos you have the chance to do numerous water sports and horse riding. Flooded with many pine trees Skiathos offers shadow in all the places where hotness cannot touch you.

Paros

6. Paros: It is the typical island which represents Cyclades and offers the best experience. Paros is popular for its nightlife (not like Mykonos), for its organised beaches with sun beds and umbrellas, for the practice of windsurfing and for its party beaches. The capital of Paros is Parikia a charming town with many activities concentrated there. The liveliest village of the island is Naousa which is known for its cosmopolitan life. Something that you should not miss in Paros is the Venetian castle which is one of the most beautiful parts of the island. Opposite to Paros is Antiparos where you can be transferred by boat. It is an island that has managed to keep its natural beauty. It is the quiet alternative to Paros. The island has beautiful golden sandy beaches. One of the island’s attractions is the impressive caves of Stalactites on the hill of Agios Ioannis.

Mykonos

5. Mykonos: The most famous island in Greece, Mykonos it is something like Ibiza for Spain but with Cycladic feel. It is classed as an island for upper well-educated classes it tries to retain that with museums and art galleries everywhere. Mykonos boasts of the best beaches in the country and the most crowded like Agrari, Paradise and Super paradise where nudity is a commonplace. No words can describe the nightlife in Mykonos, it has the reputation of an island where the party never stops and that is not rumour but fact. Nowhere in Greece will find clubs like in Mykonos. When you decide to go in Mykonos bring along energy, your best clothes and do not forget your credit cards.

Rhodes

4. Rhodes: Situated closed to Turkey where you can have eyesight and its town Rhodos has a blend of Turkish influences. The island is surrounding with waters mirror-like and there are beaches for all the preferences. Rhodes has the cleanest waters in Greece and has been voted many times for its wonderful beaches. In the island there are numerous of lively bars and huge night clubs, theatres and cinemas. Being the largest island of the archipelago called Dodecanese; Rhodes is full of handsome villages where lots of monuments are spotted. The military museum is a good example of the cut stone buildings that makes Rhodes one of the most beautiful medieval cities in the world.

Corfu

3. Corfu: When you are to Corfu there times where you wondering if you are in Greece or in Italy. The period it has been through the Venetian, the French and the English have changed it and shaped it, making what it is now, with its castles, its kandounia( stone-flagged alleys) and its arcades. Corfu it’s the greenest island of the Ionian Sea, an island with rich, beautiful landscapes and gorgeous sandy beaches and lots of traditional Greek villages. Nightlife is good as it is in whole Greece but drinks here are a bit more expensive do not except to spend 5 Euros in a drink.

Crete

2. Crete: The largest of the Greek islands, for those who thinking of visiting, car would be necessary. Crete has amazing deserted beaches and very busy touristy resorts. There are archaeological sites and ancient cities around the island; one of the most major attractions is the ancient Minoan city of Knossos. The island is surrounded from beautiful towns like Chania and Rethymno. Rethymno is the main city of Crete and it’s divided to the new and old town. Also in Crete there are many mountain villages with people untouched by the tourism. The food by far the best among all Greece and nightlife is supposed to be one of the liveliest nights in Greece. The islands proposed a large choice of bars and clubs located in the main towns and it the beach resorts. Also the island it’s very popular for climbers and hikers.
